Sadly, for finance reasons my van has to go. I am wondering if anyone out there has suggestions for best place to sell other than E-bay. So far it is only on the free adds on UKCS. All sensible ideas please.

I have found that advertising in the local paper( if you have one) is a good bet. My own local paper offers a deal for a little extra that if it does not sell in a certain time period it can carry on being a advertised till you tell them to cancell free of charge. One thing to watch out for are firms who have seen the advert trying to offer to sell for you for a price , tell them to p.ss off, they are just annoying parasites. One thing also advertising local is people dont like to travel too far to view.  Best of luck, but watch out for con artists.   kiev

I agree with kiev regarding the local newspapers. In two weeks I have had at least nine telephone responses with two viewings, one timewaster , (you always get one) with another viewing today. Enquiries will be within the publication area of the newspaper and normally people will be able to travel to view. I would suggest that you are realisitic with your valuation and you may be successful. Always add NO CANVASSERS to your newspaper advert and UK Residents only on E-bay. My m-home is advertised on Freeads also with pics. It is also on 3 other websites. I had it on E-bay twice and had no response the first time because I may have slightly overvalued it. I dropped the price and was almost succesful last week. However after viewing all the completed listings, of m-homes in my category, only 3% actually were sold and many had "Reserve not met" Others received no bids at all. I have seen failed e-bay sales re-listed with Buy it Now to try and attract buyers. There is some stiff competition, look at this  http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2005-AUTOSLEEPER-NUEVO-ES-PEUGEOT-2-2-HDI-MOTORHOME and I'm not surprised it sold, it was a gift. It's certainly a learning curve. (Can only be viewed in Completed Listings)

Good luck with your sale.

Moss

We advertised in MMM magazine and sold one last year. the only thing I would add is to be sure you organise the transfer of funds in the best way.  I have been told that even a bankers draft is not necessarily foolproof and the only safe way is a CHAPS transfer or such like.  Take some advice from our own bank.

OT I'm afraid , but I've always been intrigued by that phrase in adverts .  Who are these canvassers, and what do they do?
