HI,
Thanks for replying I was upset that I had a sad face next to my question.
A kentucky is a seven berth motorhome on a transit chasis. We went to have a look at it but it was not very nice. The interior was well used considering it was an 03 plate. Also it was so multicoloured inside you would have needed your sunglasses on to sit in it!
We currently have a 5berth motorhome a buccaneer caravel on a transit chasis. We have had it for two years. We are looking for one with an end lounge as ours has an end kitchen.

IHello Debbie I wish you luck in your search.
When we were looking for our Duetto we looked at the MMM magazine but on their internet site. apparently they appear here before the mag is published. We saw one being sold in Leiceste and we phoned and went to look the next day. they were a really nice retired couuple who obviously loved the van as it was immaculate. Only seelling because the chap could no longer drive. when we took it away it was like kidnapping a loved child from them!!!! they told us that they had had no other enquiries and i can only assume it was because the mag had not yet come out.
We looked after it as well and sold it 2 years later for much the same price. the people who bought it were spending 2 weeks travelling around the country doing B&B inorder to lookk at several and get the best oone availabale. they knew they wanted a Duetto. On their return journety they phoned us and as it was still for sale they bought it. they told us honestly that it was the best one they had seen they said they had seen some in a disgusting state for the same price. they were a nice couple and we were happy with the sale price and they were happy with the purchase price. what this tells me is that the price will be the same roughly whether it is in good condidiotn or not so stick out for a well maintained one that you feel comfortable with.
this time we bought from a dealer as Romahomes are not so numerous and we only wanted a really small van and we only saw a couple advertised. At the showroom we looked at one and it was filthy (it had just come in that morning so had not been cleaned yet )so we felt that the owners would not have looked after other aspects of it like the engine etc.
the one we bought had clearly been looked after - you know by the way the accessories are.
If don't mind exactly which model you should find the one you want in the condition you want as well.

Hi Viv,
We have had a look at a few vans recently but to be honest when I look at them and then get back into ours I can honestly say there isnt one yet which I would part with ours for.
I have looked after ours and it is immaculate inside and my husband has looked after the rest with regards to wax oiling all the underneath and regular service etc even the habitation has a service history. So we know ours is right without fault.
The layout we really want is an end lounge because at the moment ours has an end kitchen and the door is at the end too so needless to say everyone is trying to get passed me when im cooking the bacon!!!
How long have you been camping for? we are pretty new to this game we had a Talbot Harmony Rapsody before this van but we never camped in it was only used it as a day van.
Speak soon,
Debbie

hello Debbie
it looks like we have a kind of private communication going on here.!!!!!
We have not been camping for too long, we had a duetto for a couple of years then due to Terry's ill health we sold it as he could no longer drive. He can no longer work so I decided to take early (note VERY EARLY) retirement. We really missed the van and as we can not get medical insurance to go abroad we decided to get another van and use it here. the idea is that we will leave the house and travel for a couple of months in Spring moving into the summer. We have been away quite a lot since we bought it but the school hols so sites being quite booked up and bad weather we are stuck a t home for the moment.
i don't know exactly what we like about camping but we love the freedom of just moving around as we wish, the nice atmosphere on a campsite, the laid back atmosphere, no housework, local butchers, cosiness. I wish we had done it when the kids were little as well.
I hope you enjoy yourselves and find a van that is worthy of your care don't rush and you will find 'THE ONE'.

Hi Viv,
Im sure we will find the right van like you say its just a matter of taking our time.
We have only been camping for two years, we have three children and three dogs, when I say children two are grown up 21 and 19 but we always take our youngest she is 14 and our dogs.
only recently though the older two seem to follow us in the car its a bit of a squeeze in the van!!!!
We are hoping to go away on Thursday for a couple of days to the Lake District but it all depends on the weather.
We went to Somerset last week and had a great time we stayed at a camp called Home Farm and then on to Burton Upon Trent to a quiet site called Beehive.
Keep in touch its good to talk
Debbie
