Recently bought an 18 month old camper from a large dealer in the johns cross area, east sussex, only to realise that the thing is full of damp! When we recently went to part exchange it for a slightly larger one, they spotted it to our horror and pointed out where someone has tried to repair it and failed, as the damp was still within the walls. Subsequently we have now had a substantial loss and are,as you can imagine, very dissapointed. We had,had other issues with the van that we hoped would have been covered on warranty but were left helpless! A word of warning; don't get taken in by the image of a big dealer, Still check for damp. A damp detector is only about £10 on ebay and could save a fortune in the long run.
Oh that is bad news and shame on the dealer for marketing a damp unit in the first place. 18 months old is no age, did it not come with any kind of warranty, be it manufacturers or dealer warranty?
You say it was 18 months old then it should have a water ingress warranty, has the van been fully serviced?
I would be tempted to take it back to the dealer who sold it to you and ask for either a replacement, a full refund, or give them the opportunity to replace the damp.
Good luck

hi, most campers now have 5 years with damp, 3 years with other stuff. but like you i got one just over 2 years old and its still got electric problems, it went back 4 times and all they did was to change the battery, i am now looking to fix it myself and asking questions on here for help.
they just dont want to know after they have sold it to you, BTW i got mine from highbridge. looks like to me all they want is your money and then s0d you son.
what make is it? have you contacted the manufacturer? lunar motorhomes have a 3 year ingress waranty as do loads of others so it doesnt realy matter if the dealer wants to play ball or not it is more than likley still under manufacturers warrantyforget the dealer go to the manufacturer

never argue with an idiot, they will bring you down to their level and beat you on experience
Ours came with a six year warranty but one of the conditions was that the dealer carried out a yearly damp test, has the book been stamped? Even so, if there's damp after 18 month i would think the dealer or manufacturer should do something about it as a gesture of goodwill, if nothing else.

Sometimes a little rain must fall before you reach a rainbow.
The work will wait while you show the child the rainbow, but the rainbow won't wait while you finish the work.
I would have thought that you would have been able to claim under the trade discriptions as it is not as sold. I must also disagree with the complaints about dealers I bought an Eldis Autostratus six years old in february from Glossop caravans in Derbyshire it has been back on a number of occasions we are now on first name terms, they have not quibbled once and have resolved all problems. I give them 100% for after sales.
