Hello everyone,me and my kids have been glued to the autumnwatch show all this week and have said that we would love to visit rhum and the surrounding islands next year.we usually go camping in our car but have we would really like to try a week or 2 in a motorhome for a change.we would obviously have to hire one and would be grateful of any advice about the best way to go about it,for example-we live in west yorkshire so would it be best to hire one near to us or drive up to scotland and hire one up there?-the good and bad hire companies and the best places to visit for a family of 2adults and 2 kids aged 8&7.it would be the first time in a motorhome(as you can probably tell) so any advice at all would be very welcome, thanks.

The ferry to the small islands only carries islanders vehicles and there are no roads on Rhum only tracks so if you wish to visit it's backpacking only. Worth the visit though.

Hi there, can't help with the motorhome, but I would think you would want to hire one local to you.  Probably get more choice there too than up here.  Hiring is expensive, as are ferries to the islands.  Cal Mac do a rover type ticket, but I'm not sure which islands it covers.  Motorhomes and caravans are not welcome on Colonsay.  There will not be a lot of campsites on the islands, but you can do some wild camping.

I would think you will find lots of info on the internet about the islands and the ferries, and it will be a lovely holiday.
