Hi,

 

We have an Autocruise from 04 and the door hinges are really sticking.

Tried lots of lubricant but they will not free up.

Does anyone know if the pins can be driven out to lubricate them ?

Thanks for any help you are able to give.

Hi its not lubricant that you need to use as the penatrive affect is not that good ( they do work but not the best ) what you need to use is holts rustola penatrative oil which is very thin and creeps into the joints and attacts rust it is very differnt to wd40 type sprays!! keep putting it on and leave it soak in and work the hinges back and fro ! you can also try as well a paint stripper gun to heat the hinges up and work back and fro! i use this method to free up rusty hinges on old vws beetles etc and it does work ( take time mind you haha ) well good luck hope you sort it Paul

Some door hinges are not metal and using an ordinary lubricating oil sometimes makes matters worse. You could try silicone oil that may help if they are plastic or nylon type.

I'm sure I read somewhere that a spray with silicone in will do the job - furniture polish?
