We have always used the Caravan Club Red Pennant. We had a problem with a car in Germany once which was attended to pretty quickly. As I did not need spare parts the CC paid for the labour charges.

Norwich Union combined policy for insurance and breakdown (u.k. and Europe) was cheaper than a Saga quote and they also gave me breakdown cover for my car thrown in.
It seems that if you take breakdown cover on the newest vehicle (camper or car) as the '1st' vehicle it's really cheap and the '2nd' vehicle (i.e. the older vehicle)gets covered as well

...take care when looking for cover...you'll find that most providers will have an age limit for vehicle cover..especially for overseas....and it can be hidden away in the small print, too.....

We have Green Flag....but bought from Tesco ( quite a bit cheaper ).

Rac through the camping and caravan club are good and cover any size of vehicle it seems.
