Hi andrewjc ... welcome to Ukcampsite ...... the gas you need is Campingaz .... our Romahome is a little older (well quite a lot)

With our van if you drop the front of the sink .... there are 2 red knobs one says Fridge the other Cooker - they need to be turned on too ........

With the Fridge you need to turn the knob and push ignition and count to about 30 .... you may have repeat theis many many times lol (ours can take 10 - 20 minutes at times) ....... if you look inside the fridge - there should be what looks like a clear bung ...... that is where you will see if the pilot is alight

Hi andrewjc ...... it's always handy to have a second gas bottle (which will lay on it's side in the bottom of the cubby-hole..... they are expensive to buy (and around £15 for a refill) ........ we managed to get 4  bottles from the tip for £5 ...... one was more full than empty

To check how much gas you have in the bottle ---- slowly pour boiling water over the bottle ......... and where the frosting looking level is, is where the gas comes toooooo

Hi Andrew, I get advice here and the small motorhome site.  I enjoy both of these sites a great deal.

You should not store the gas bottles on their side, also using bottles from tips is very dangerous, You need to make sure that they are pressure tested. One way round this is to use LPG, you need a special cylinder that can be refilled, its brand new with a 10 year life span, you then get the relevant adapter for europe, italy spain etc.

If you travel alot this is the most economical way of doing it, because unlike when you take an empty cylinder in, you are just topping up the gas in your existing cylinder. Also saves having to take 2 cyclinders around with you. Only problem is with Spain as LPG is very hard to find - just make sure you have a full tank before you enter the country
