Hi

Does anybody know what  the gas consumption of a freezer (for an MH) unit is, I believe a fridge is quite small so once a freezer reaches its operation temperture is that all so small? If so how much?

regards

If I run the fridge on my VW camper continuosly & cook as well it does a Campingaz 907 bottle in 7 days--thats about 2.5 kgs of gas I think--

Thanx for the reply, but I was really looking for a specific quantity of gas consumption so as I could hopefully calculate how long a given gas bottle would last, because where I tend to go good food supplies are rare.

--that was the specific consumption--a 907 bottle lasts for a week-it holds 2.75kgs of butane-I included cooking cos the fridge & cooker normally work of the same supply-if you want to be more accurate--look in the fridge instruction book for whatever m/h your buying & it will tell you the gas consumtion--if you mean a free standing fridge freezer-any large caravan shop will have a good selection you can look at-the gas consumption will be in the instruction manual--I take it you are aware you only run your fridge on gas when parked up?---when driving the fridge runs off the vehilce electrics--

---also-if you are going winter camping you will need to use propane gas(red bottle) as butane gas will not work below about 5 deg C-- propane is less economical than butane--

It is a question of how long is a piece of string regarding the consumption. It will depend upon the outside temperature. The hotter outside the more the cooling unit wil be on. Also depends on how cold you run your fridge/freezer. How often you open it etc.

Also with bottled gas, you are never sure how much you actually have in the fills are not constant. The way round that is via LPG as you can fill your cylider to the make prior to going away.

I have a single 11kg cylinder 21litres at 80%, and over a 2 week period in South of France & Spain used 12kg of gas, this was for heating the hot water, fridge, cooking and the BBQ.  I know this is not specific but should give an indication on whats what. Also bear in miond if it is cold you will be using heating as well.

Hi

Thanks for the replies. After some research the average figures seem to be 3 days for a freezer and 5 for a fridge at the use of 1Kg of butane gas.

regards
