The new top of the range Kon Tikis can be up to £57,000

The high build quality affects the price and the depreciation

I am sorry and it's my own opinion, but if you believe that you are living in some nostagic dreamland.

Firstly swift do not compare with some of the brands on the market today. there are German makes that are much better, Adria whom are slovakian have just won awards. Some french makes are great.

My opinion, well my father in law owns a 2003 swift sundance since new, problems as listed. Water ingress at back window due to inproper fitted seal, toilet failure (part fell off and off and off even after tree recalls) kitchen appliance failure, and numerous little hangups of door knobs falling off, (brittish quality indeed) price as new 39000. Ok so they put it right each time and they cant be falted for that.

Mine 28k brand new owned it since a year old nothing fallen off everything works one small repair require where the rear garage door was not shutting properly due to miss lined up hinge, Repair from manufactures? no chance mate, did it me self cost 40£. and we have distructive kids.

If I were choosing a MH based on quality, it would not be british it would be a Hymer.

As for prices? you pay for quality or name. I wear stone island sweaters and jeans that cost me more than £400, I could of course get some denim from George and most woul not know the difference. Both set would do the job and the only person that would no the differenece is me and a few mates (dressers) of mine.

If your happy to be motorhoming for the love of it get yourself a newer import type theres plenty out there within your budget, Theres plenty of horror stories for better makes and poorer makes. You just take ya chances.

Me? as ive said before i would much rather have a cheaper newer MH than an older older older van merely cos it wears a spcecific label.

also consider the milage greatly, and age greatly. Hugging around 3 ton of weight every tip aind easy, no matter what make you get fiat or mercedees all have running gear that can fail, the difference is you pay so much more to repair a merc than a fiat. And why sre fiat the top conversion base van??? becouse they do there job.

good luck

I'm not sure about all that. We have an Elddis (which is British) and have had no major problems just a small bit of water ingress which was fixed quickly and have enjoyed the motorhome thoroughly

Hi Panagah

Pleased your happy with your CI, as we all know water leaks can happen on any van. Sadly according to teh company who service mine they see more CI's with water ingress than any other manufacturer. So as you say you pays your money and chances your luck.

Regards

John
