05 with a dead battery? Somethings amiss here. yes batteries can just go, but it sounds to me that something more sinister has happened here after all were now in y2007 not 1980s vast improvements have been made.. If your certain that all your light etc were off then I would suggest you get the van running and go and have it checked out. To get it running you may just want to do an O/N charge on the battery, that should give it enough to get the van going.

If the battery does not start the van after a charge and it needs replacing, like others have said change it, get one from a good auto factors their far cheaper than the likes of Kwik rip. And to change the battery is such a simple job even for some one completely un tech. it sort of speaks for it self when you look at the old battery, two cables and a retaining plate, it,s easier than changing a tyre.

Sara

How long is it since you have started the van has it been idle for some time with the alarm on if so this can discharge the battery quiet quickly as mine did. Suggest you use the charger thats in with your mains unit and charge it over night . If its ok in the morning you might find it better to trickle charge it in the same way once a fortnight as i did and never had any more problems.

Thanks again for the replies.  We have had the battery on charge and are hoping that it will fire up tomorrow when hubby has to start it up to take it to the dealers.  If it doesn't - we're stuffed.

We haven't used the van for a couple of months, although we did have guests staying in it for a couple of nights over Christmas, but it was plugged into the mains.   I guess we will have to start taking it for a little drive at the weekends, just to keep it topped up.

Pleased to say that after being on charge, hubby reconnected the battery and it started first time.  MH is now with the dealers and will hopefully be sorted and back with us soon.

Thanks for all the replies!
