 We are off to Switzerland for 3 weeks in March (skiing if there is any snow) in our Hymer, we think we should change the tyres before we go, and wonder if we should put winter tyres on, If this seems sensible, would it be advisable to change them for ordinary ones for summer motoring, or are there any disadvantages in using them year-round. Also, will we still need to use chains with winter tyres? We'd be very grateful for any thoughts and advice from all you knowledgeable and helpful people out there.  Many thanks, Peter & Pat

 i would change them for winter ones to go to Switzerland but change them back for summer.

The trouble is where do you go for sensible advice? if you go to Kwik S--- you will get all sorts of nonsense from some spotty Oink who doesn't know his ****  from his Pirellis - LOL

What I want is a tyre with a pattern like the old Firestone Town and Country. But suitable for a M/home or van - has anyone got any suggestions? As you know, for this type of vehicle it should be a 8 ply rated.... Help!

  Michelin do special camping tyres. We had some tyres on the back before the michelins and they had gone an almost oval shape when the motorhome was stood and when we went down the motorway the motorhome bounced. we were told that we were very near a blow-out!

OK guys! Thanks for your time/advices. I emailed the help line at Michelin several days ago, and haven't had a reply!  But if you think about it, loads of people on the Continent put winter tyres on at the start of the season, then there must be tens of days during the winter (especially now with global warming) where the road conditions are similar to the  summer and yet they toddle around quite happily, so  I'm going for it (full time) and I'll let you all know how I get on after a summer/autumn of "winter" tyres.....
