Hi all..

T25 broke down yesterday ... miles from anywhere of course!

Very nice recovery man said fuel pump not working.. and gave me a piggy back home! The fuel pump was replaced only 2 months ago.. so very surprised it has failed already.. and I will certainly go back to garage.

Recovery man said it's best to fit an electronic fuel pump next time.. so any thoughts on an electronic pump.. how it is fitted, how much and where to source??

Thanks.. Geoff

--If its an aircooled T25 an electric fuel pump is the way to go--if its a later watercooled engine--then take the fuel pump back if its failed after 2 months-did you get it from GSF?--if you did get a refund & order one from your local VW van centre-you should still be able to get one & it will be better than GSF rubbish----but then again it may not be the fuel pump---justkampers supply electric fuel pumps---if you do need one--

Cheers Billy..

Yes mine is water cooled.. so is an electronic pump not an option on this engine??

I intend to take it back for certain.. but will go the extra for an electronic pump if this is going to be a lot more reliable. I am touring France in June so don't want to be worrying about fuel pumps !

Thanks for info..  Geoff

Your AA man knew nought--water cooled flat 4s dont use electric fuel pumps--if the fuel pump is deffo faulty order a genuine one off your VW dealer--Is it a 1.9 dg engine?--if so change fuel filter underneath by the tank--change all your rubber fuel pipes--if it still splutters you will have to remove top of carb & clean crud out of float bowl(there will be lots)--if the engine is a 2.1 fuel injected it will be need to be looked at by an expert--
