If you dont want to use suckers, or they wont stick very well. The only option is to have a gutter fitted on one side. I believe it is called a 'J Rail'.

I think the J Rail has some sort of extra strong glue strip, to fix it to the bodywork. So you dont have to drill holes in the body and put screws in.

Many Thanks for that I will look that up , much better than fixing screws in the bodywork..

on our awning there are small 'cut out' sections along the sleeve that the pole feeds through so you clamp directly onto the pole and over the gutter rail, not over the fabric,
