It is a change of scenery, and being in the great outdoors.
Hotels, B&Bs etc. with blank walls are rather soulless to me personally. In addition, places that allowed dogs back in 2006/7 when I first started to go camping were limited; whereas the majority of campsites would accept dogs.
Can't exactly whip out the Weber or Cobb when the weather is nicer at a hotel or B&B.
And I love cooking and eating al fresco.
Being a lone female traveller, camping with a dog was and still is my main form of holidays and I love it.
