That LEAD me to look online at Scottish Wildlife Trust - we do have Little Egret locally but I’ve not seen a Great Egret. However, they’re both at Montrose Basin where you can compare their size & colouring.

Amazing birds & here’s a true TALE: last year, a five months old Bar-tailed Godwit broke the record for a single flight, flying nonstop over 13,500km from the Yukon Peninsula in Alaska to Tasmania in 11 days.

Black-tailed Godwits have longer legs, and Bar-tailed Godwits have stiped wings. That's how you can TELL the difference.

Its BILL is also different. Both birds are in NZ (where I am at the moment). https://nzbirdsonline.org.nz/species/black-tailed-godwit says there are 3 subspecies: from western Siberia and Europe; from Iceland; and from eastern Siberia, Mongolia and NE China.
