Novelist and former SAS operative Andy McNab, however, believes that camping in the rain is "part of the fun".
He told John Humphrys that all you need is a good set of waterproofs, a good tent, and "you can just sit there and listen to the rain all night... fantastic."
steveiem , added " a bloody good ground sheet might come in handy , too , andy "..

before we took to tin tin tents we used to go camping in slightly wobblier ones, during one trip to cornwall things got very wet and windy and our tent sprung serveral leaks but instead of packing up and heading home ,i used my initiative....... before it started raining in on us... and after my handi-work... it rained nearly evert day for the whole two weeks we were there but the trusty ,multi purpose tarp' kept the water out even if it didn't look very elegant forgot to add that trip was our 1st and last with that particular tent
------------- no tin tent outings booked as yet ,just another cruise in Sept' booked so far
