Does anyone have any games they play on holidays or long car journeys, with the kids or otherwise? We have a game called 'pub cricket', anyone know it? It's no good for motorway driving as of course there aren't any pubs on the roadside, but for A and B road trips it can keep the kids attention for ages and can be continued throughout the whole holiday.

The idea is this: every pub you pass has a name or usually a sign, you choose which you use as the basis for the game. The pub name or sign will be either the name of a person or an animal or not, such as 'The Red Lion', 'The Bell', or 'The Queen Victoria'. If it's a person or animal the person who is 'in' scores a run for as many legs as the aninal(s) or person named has, so, the Red Lion scores four 'runs' and the Queen Vic scores two. The Bell scores nil in which case the 'batsman' is 'out' and the next person is 'in', and so on.

Anyone have any similar games or ideas to keep the kids entertained?

Making funny names out of number plates.

e.g if plate was A358GWL  - it would become Granny Wears Lycra (GWL)

It used to keep me and the kids amused when we were off camping!
