Being lazy now, as I can Google it, but do you need to have the car's engine turned on to update the Satnav?
With my car I needed the ignition on but not the engine running. Cars may vary though.

Colin

Mine's one of those stupid ones where you need the engine running for around 40-50 mins to do the update, because without the engine running the electrics 'go to sleep' and shut everything down after max 10 mins - that would potentially crash the system leaving it in limbo with neither the old system or new system functional! And you can't do it whilst driving, 'cos it takes over the electronic display screen (very few controls by mechanical switches, everything is menu driven off the screen!)!
Really not impressed with the process, I don't do it very often, I use a free app on my phone which will patch into the car display, it has up to date maps, traffic data, speed camera data, AND can be set to caravan friendly routing, which the car system can't.

I have only ever updated my sat-nav once. When I bought the car it still had the original 2008 disk in it. I knew that I could only update it to 2013, but as that was better than 2008 I contacted Nissan. They could supply a 2013 disk, but at a cost of £150!! I went on ebay and got one for £10 and it worked perfectly. The update took around 15 minutes.
I can't update it any more unfortunately as my car took a DVD and the next model takes an SD disk.
------------- Best Regards,
Colin
