... in that I am looking forward to concession rates for C&CC club sites next year!!!

I received my new C&CC membership card and have been with the club for 15 years.

Probably still a baby compared with some, however, it feels like a very log time coming!

Don’t get too excited, DK. We’ve got age concession but the CCC site we’re on now, midweek (but summer prices), is >£41 pn. Compared to 3 equally good or better independent sites an hour away last month, all for £25pn…

-------------
2024 = 18 sites / 38 nights. 2023 = 9/23. 2022 = 13/35. 2021 = 11/29. 2020 = 4/20. 2019 = 13/35. 2018 = 20/33. 2017 = 10/22. 2016 = 19/33. 2015 = 15 sites / 27 nights. Didn't count 1976 to 2014.

For solo campers it is a good deal compared with most commercial sites where we pay by unit and not person. Out of season it is almost as cheap as staying at home if you factor in heating etc.

No idea why Moffat is just over £41 for the same criteria, incl EHU. Maybe no midweek discount? it’s almost full & doesn’t need to attract people.

We have it but don't use it as we don't stay on Club sites. I know the reason why you do DK.

Just done a dummy booking for Walton on Thames, £19.65 per night with ehu. Might well use it for a stopover sometime. Has no facilities which suits us.

We’ve previously found Moffat to be one of the cheaper sites - looks like times are changing!

Wait until you get reduced membership rates because you’ve been with them for ever (think it’s 20 or 25 years) - not that I’m complaining!

We use it as a regular site. Fairly easy for us to access, well situated for trips to london using our bus pass and some lovely cycle trips along the thames path.
Strange thing is, it is almost deserted here at the moment.

I shan't be able to get any discount for my first trip out next year as it will be over Easter which is counted as high season, hey ho!

The concessional discount is definitely worth taking into consideration when planning for future trips.

No good for the school holidays in the summer for certain, and I would only stay at adult-only sites during this period. As far as I am aware, club sites are normally "family" sites, so they are out for me.

Prices are all over the place to be honest - the likes of Fforest Fields which is an independent site with what it has to offer (a lot) is 17.50 GBP per night for me, the dog and 10A EHU when I booked!!!

Can't wait to go back there in July 2024.

We have had the concessionary rate ever since we joined, but it doesn't always work out cheaper. Often we find that there is a nearby commercial site in the same area which is cheaper than our C&CC concessionary rate.

We never go anywhere in school holidays though. One of the snags we find with C&CC site rates is that they have a 3 tier system. Low, Mid, and High seasons, where Mid isn't that much cheaper than High. Commercial sites seem to have mostly High and Low seasons, and when we tend to go is in their Low season whereas it would be Mid on a C&CC site.

We are going to Sandringham C&CC site soon, but there is a nearby commercial site which would have been a bit cheaper if only they'd had vacancies. I'll have to book earlier next year as I know it's a lovely site, as is Sandringham. Sandringham is starting to drift out of our price-bracket though.

I shall continue to shop around for the best combination of facilities (including mobile phone signal coverage), reviews and prices, and shan't based my decision on price alone.

The trip in August is inevitably an independent adult-only site, as I am not aware of any club site being adult-only.

I prefer CC&CC and CAMC, and other independent sites that offer individual person pricing structure as I camp alone with my dog, and don't like being charged per pitch based on 2 people sharing, as I have mentioned repeatedly in the past.

We shop around too, usually on here, and don't go by price alone, although we do reject any that are too expensive.

We never go away in August, not because of children specifically, but because of the ridiculous prices and the fact that everywhere is packed and I hate crowded places, including beaches. I'd rather lay in my back garden than on a beach surrounded by thousands of people. We look for remote beaches that others tend not to go to. Often they have free parking nearby too. We stay well away from main tourist beaches, which can often be crowded even outside the main season. Everyone just tends to head straight for the main tourist beach and don't bother to look a mile or two further up the coast, which suits us just fine!

I thought all C&CC site prices included two people? Must admit I hadn't looked deeply into it but I had just assumed that was the case based on our bookings.

at Colin21 - both C&CC and CAMC charge per person per type as in adult/child/infant.

I don't know how much they charge for children and infants as they don't apply to me.

Don't know about CAMC, however, I believe C&CC has "family" discount, however, I could be wrong.

I must admit I have never really looked properly at C&CC prices as there is always the two of us, but I always thought that C&CC charged per person over and above the two included in the pitch price. Perhaps I got that wrong. Not sure about family discount either, as like you it doesn't apply to us as our youngest is 40 with a family of his own, and none of our grandchildren seem particularly interested in camping.

So my question is this, Why is it people of a certain age can get a concession and what age do you have to be ?

i've heard the caravan club are doing the same or are about to?
