I need to change it as my email address was hacked. Can't change it on the system. Had a long conversation with the help centre, no joy. Any ideas please?

Also Discovery plus say we don't have an account. We do!

In 2012, my BT email was hacked. I found out when friends phoned to check I was ok because they’d had the “been robbed in Manila, send money ” email. I was self employed, I opened my email & all 4000 emails in my in box had gone. I’d also lost all my (mostly work) contacts. The BT help desk woman was brilliant: she had to go into my account by a back door so we could change my password to stop further access. The hacker had subtly changed my email address & set up automatic forwarding to it, which she removed. It took 2 weeks for all but the most recent emails to come back.
What I’m saying is: it’s a horrible thing when it happens but you don’t necessarily have to get a new email address. Though it sounds like you have that already. I hope you get sorted ok.

Thanks Fiona, I have changed it now. A caravan site owner had an email supposedly from me asking for £300! I had already told her that I had been hacked.

Better idea is to use an encrypted email like protonmail. Search it in App Store. Basic account is free. Mailfence is another one. I use them both. Also if you use the DuckDuckGo search engine app they do an email that redirects to your main email account with the trackers removed.

These days if you want to avoid your data being sold with the usual results as indicated in the op you need to avoid the well known email providers like gmail etc.
