No, but if I could find a remote(ish) site where Xmas was totally TABOO and any hint of interest shown or mentioned was punishable by a grisly death, I'd certainly consider it!
Bah Humbug! Yes, my dislike of Xmas teeters on the absolute hatred of the damnable event, and I'd love to escape it entirely, and at least pretend it's not happening!
Know a number of sites where Xmas is celebrated, but never heard of one that BANS it!
Every year is a battle to avoid well meaning sorts who offer Xmas dinner at theirs, to join in with the games (board games are spelt BORED games in my world!), and witness the spoilt brats arguing over unappreciated gifts (sorry, 'children enjoying their much loved presents' - that's how the rose tinted glasses parents/grandparents put it!) - all constitutes one of Dante's circles of Hell to me!
An escape to somewhere where Xmas simply doesn't happen holds significant appeal!
Feel free to label me a Grumpy Old Git, you'll have to join the end of a queue of family and friends though, and I still won't change my mind on Xmas!

....... Pity Mum is no longer with us Monty, I think that you and she would have got on well.
I'm well aware I'm not a lone voice, but I have the advantage of flying solo these days, so not 'obliged' to indulge in other people's Xmases! In amongst the chorus of 'You grumpy old git' is an occasional whispered 'You lucky Devil!', even an added 'If I hatch an escape plan, can I join you, but you wouldn't snitch on me would you!'
.... I could tell tales of the grimmest 'family/partner's family' Xmases, 'cos I was deemed 'responsible' so copped for chauffeuring assorted 'guests' here and there, driving into central London to pick up visiting foreign cousins from rail stations, driving 120 mile round trips to airports in thick freezing fog to drop off people etc., which ALWAYS involved me bolting down only part of a dinner, and drinking absolutely no booze, whilst everyone else revelled! If it wasn't that, I was the fittest and most able, so got to do all the heavy lifting and running around stuff! .... others fall for that these days, whilst I just opt out of it all!

We been away for Christmas for about 20 of the last 25, but in something more solid than a caravan or tent and not always in the UK.
This started after 10 years of doing hundreds of miles every Christmas trying to please everyone and we had had enough.
No different this year. A decent hotel for a few nights where all I have to do is turn up at the restaurant on time and pay the bar bill.
Before that a couple of nights in Spain for some welcome late autumn sunshine - cheaper than a weekend in the UK.

Yes - we will be away. Going to a CL near Solihull for 10 days. Will have the Xmas tree and decorations in and out of the van with lights, etc. Going to Birmingham German Xmas Market on 23rd (which we've always wanted to go to).
Wherever people are going, have a great time.

This is Gate Farm. We have been there before when going to the NEC but not at Xmas. Always try to get away for the Xmas period.

Each to their own. Christmas MAY be a religious festival and for those with theological beliefs it is their right to celebrate their festival.
Equally, it is anyone's right to celebrate what they want whether others approve or not.
I think the "apparent real meaning" of Christmas is irrelevant.
Pagan teachings celebrate Yule the few days around the winter solstice but even ardent Pagan believers do not think it hypocritical to enjoy the Xmas tidings.
My Hindu and Sikh friends also celebrate Christmas with their families. They do not think they are hypocritical - just pleased to enjoy this time of the year.
Christmas is a time to rejoice, love and savour. To me that is the real meaning.
Peace, good hope and great tidings to everyone
