I'm a bit further down the river Lea than you Mrs Bonce, it runs through my village and it's navigable here. I'm sure it's every bit as cold here as it where you are. Time to batten down the hatches and only go out when I absolutely have to. I really hate the cold with a passion!
No frost where you are? We had plenty last year and I think it was frosty this morning, but only before I got up. I'm not an early riser these days.

Last year Colin, a very mild winter if I remember correctly.
Not the mildest or the coldest ever here. We had plenty of very frosty mornings but I only remember a small amount of snow. Quite a few times when I had to scrape the ice off my windscreen if I had to go out. Probably plenty of other mornings with ice on my car when I didn't have to go out too. Fairly average I would imagine, certainly not especially mild. Maybe you had it milder there than we did here.
It was minus 3 on Saturday, driving home at 11pm. Ground is so warm, relatively, that it’s not slippy. Even now on Wednesday, it’s bone-chillingly cold with clear skies & fabulous sunsets & I’m needing to wear lots of layers. But there’s no snow on Arran.
So - not up to the minus 10 for 10 days that froze pipes some years ago. And not up to the long wet spell followed by the long spell of minus temperatures which together killed my 3m high favourite Hebe bushes this January.
we are currently at 1 degree here in teesside. but with a slight breeze its feeling much colder, its direction has changed tonight and is now coming in from the east which means snow. so far at 12.45 am we have missed it but the forecast is that we will get some by the morning and all thr until friday teatime. Thankfully shopping for xmas will be taking place in either the metro center or york designer park, depending on how the snow comes down overnight
It was supposed to be minus 4 here overnight and I can believe it. I’ve just got up and the thermostat says it is 10 degrees inside the house. I’m looking forward to getting in to work to get warmed up!
Single digit where I live in the South West in the next few days.

No double digit temperatures forecast for East Anglia in the next two weeks. I crawled out of bed rather reluctantly this morning at 8am to see the outside temperature reading 1 degree and a thick coat of frost on the roofs of the houses across the street, the roof of my caravan, and my car. Glad I have no plans to go out there!
