I just wondered whether anyone does anything unusual? I remember reading about a family who took and ate their Christmas Day dinner half way up the Wrekin (mountain in south Shropshire) Quite wonderful I thought, totally bonkers English eccentric.
No, we haven't done that, but we do go away in the caravan every Christmas, apart from 2020.
I traditionally dont moan about christmas on the day. I give it a break from moaning about it (for the wifes sake) and saying it was time it was abolished the rest of the year. I dislike it more than Sundays, and thats saying something.
...and that Jesus fella was unlucky being born on the same day present-wise. They always get short changed.
Not really.
A we are a mixed family we do Kučios on Christmas Eve. It is a Lithuanian tradition.
12 meat free dishes are served, some are very traditional. A place is left at the table for the deceased. Animals are supposed to be able to talk that evening, girls can foresee their wedding or future husband, everything has to be spotless in the house and there are a load of peasant traditions on what you can and can't do.
You aren't supposed to drink but I always have some wine.

BBQ, picnic up the Great Orme, motorbike ride out with friends followed by a curry, any thing rather than Turkey, Xmas pudding, Xmas cake or mince pies as I don't like any of them. I did add sprouts to the curry.

Sprouts in your curry? I wouldnt fancy being in your one-piece bike leathers.
Turkey is ok but you can keep the rest, including sprouts. We have a turkey crown in the caravan, and trifle without custard. Did you share your BBQ with the wild goats Nanashirley?
Nothing unusual really, but we do always gather the whole family at our daughters' on Christmas day, then they all come to us for Boxing day. We have hired a small hall for Boxing day this year though as there are now 19 of us and we don't all fit in our small house!

Christmas at home isn't for us. Since late 90s we have always gone on holiday.
For various reasons we have had to be at home the last few years, but this year we are away again and it can't come soon enough.
We've only ever gone away over Christmas once some years ago, and we went to the Costa del Sol. I must admit being waited on and not having to do a single thing was great, and strolling along the sea-front Christmas morning in 24 degrees and brilliant sunshine was different, but we missed our family gathering and they missed us. We haven't done it since.
The Torrero Band - Tijuana Christmas. And a very, very large whisky mac.
Since lockdown we have been going to the coast for new year, but that's off the cards this year as the week "blocks" around xmas don't work with the school holidays, and everywhere seems to have got 50% more expewsive in the last 12 months.
I don't have a big family, a son and two daughters. Only the younger daughter is in a relationship, and this year, they're off to his parents for Christmas. Only four of us, so more turkey and wine each!
We're just back from Germany and had two days of snow. If I wanted to go away, I'd probably go to Austria.
------------- Two drifters off to see the world.
I'm tired of reality, so I'm off to look for a good fantasy.
I am the oldest surviving member of my family, which feels a bit strange at times, but we have 3 grown up children and 7 grandchildren, 5 of whom are adults. 3 of them have partners, and two of them each have a daughter, so we are quite a crowd when we all get together. It seems like every Christmas there is another one, and Christmas 2024 will be no different, as we heard recently that our son and his wife are expecting their second.
