Such a moving article, and simply beautiful photos. Very, very brave decision to allow them to be made public, and I completely support it. I'd never heard of this charity, but their work is invaluable. My thoughts are with you and yours xx

Couldn't agree more. Working as a Registrar I have registered both stillbirths and baby deaths, been shown hand and footprints and tiny photos. These types of photos are very special and beautifully taken. Great memories for families involved.

I hope that in sharing their experience, your daughter and her partner are managing to find some peace, as well as potentially helping others in a similar situation.

Sounds like, despite the tragedy, you've made something perfect as a family.

Thanks again for your supportive comments folks.

Must say, they went through a lot of soul searching before agreeing to go along with this. Very keen to avoid any similarities with, or references to, a certain tv programme hosted by a certain Mr J Kyle, for one thing!

I was a bit put out by certain comments (after the articles) asking why they would publicise such private pics. I just felt like screaming at them "Just read the effing article, Numpty, and it should be clear why they have allowed their pics to be aired!"
I opted for a whine on here instead... where folk are somewhat more understanding!

Have to say though, that "Remember My Baby" have been superb throughout, with only gentle request(s), and absolutely no pressure... as you'd expect from such a caring organisation.

Thanks again all.
Always good to know we have friends out there... never know when we might need them!

Sorry to say that l have only just read your post Mucker as we have been away for a few days, so l missed a glimse of Sydney, but im sure the pictures are beautiful, and a great comfort to you all as a special keepsake.

Its good to turn such sadness into something more positive to help others in a similar situation, since loosing my Daughter Kay last year to cancer, l have started helping the charity 'Gift of a Wedding' , a charity that helps terminaly ill people marry their partner, often at very short notice, by providing all the services needed to put on a dream wedding. They raise their funds mainly by the sale of donated Wedding dresses, and supplying a gown for the bride if one is required free of charge.

Im sure that other parents who have lost their child will find comfort in sharing Sydneys story and pictures from someone who has been through the situation themselves. You have one very special and brave family Mucker, you must be very proud of them as they have now decided to tell their story of Sydneys journey to help others.

Close friends of ours son and his wife suffered a still birth after their baby died the day before his due date. They had pictures taken holding and caring lovingly for their son. Our friends have the pictures of there son and his wife and grandson out on display with the rest of their grandchildren. The pictures are beautiful. Their grandson is and was a loved member of the family. Fortunately their son and wife went onto have more children. I think its great to have pictures of your grandaughter. Sydney must be as real to your family has your other granchildren so why shouldnt you celebrate her short life. Ignore the usual bad minded trolls on social net works, I just hope they never have reason, in their personal lives, to find out what is comforting when faced with the death of a child.

That's a lovely observation, Julia. And you're right, it takes special people to share their heartache to benefit others.
