Still do not understand the reasoning behind the fact that driving a short distance to walk your dog in a quiet countryside place is a no no but going to the supermarket is ok? I know we need to eat, but...it's not easy to maintain distancing when folk insist on pushing.

The problem is people take liberties!
What is a short distance and how do they police it?
saxo1

Thats right on the money! People will and do take liberties and use any excuse to push the boundaries with no regard for others. As has been shown in Wales today?

Suddenly there's a lot more rudeness about - both in person and on the dreaded FB. Many of those with nothing to do are policing their neighbours. MYOB and get on with your own lives. You have no idea what is going on in other's.

I am not sure if I have misunderstood what you meant here but I have had cause to 'ask' people to move away from my front gate several times because they or their kids have stopped to entice my dog over. I live in a sheltered housing bungalow so it is clear we and our neighbours are elderly.

I am no expert on the subject but as I understand it the virus can be transferred to surfaces such as my gate, and I have read that although there is no evidence that dogs can get ill, there is evidence that the virus can be present in their fur. Should they stroke my dog and then I or my wife stroke my dog the virus could be passed on in either direction. It would be unfair to expect me stop my dog using the garden but I may have to stop her getting anywhere near the front gate simply because of the actions of others.

Only today another dog walker stopped at the gate to allow his dog to nuzzle mine thorough the slats in the gate and I had to shout out the window warning him that wasn't a good idea.

These people are not uneducated but uninformed. Perhaps they don't follow the TV news or read the newspapers, or go online to find things out for themselves and so they just don't realise the possible results of their actions.

Sadly, some people just don't take too kindly to being told they are doing something they shouldn't so it is sometimes necessary to be 'rude' to them to get them to understand (without using bad language of course).

Although I have no knowledge of people policing their neighbours in my area, since my front windows look out onto the street I can see that the 'only going out with members of your own household' is sometimes not being adhered to and also family members are visiting others when they shouldn't be doing so. Indeed family members of my immediate neighbour turned up yesterday to mow her lawns and clean out the greenhouse which certainly couldn't be classed as 'medical reasons'. The neighbour in question is quite agile and healthy.

If people do not stick rigidly to the rules then this virus will never be stopped and tens of thousands will die in this country. If they do stick to the rules then we all have a chance of cracking this fairly quickly. I can understand therefore if people are getting reported by neighbours for not complying.

Bob, I certainly wasn't referring to you and i apologise if you thought that I was. Generally, people on this forum are polite and respectful of each other's views and situations and often show real kindness. Unfortunately, this isn't always the case on other platforms and in real-life situations.

No problem and no need for an apology as I didn't think you were referring to me. As I said above, sometimes one has to be rude to people to get them to snap out of their lethargy and comply with the rules, otherwise they simply don't listen. Perhaps 'assertive' would be a better word.

Stuck indoors we feel it is important to replace exercise that normally we would be experiencing when freqnently going from the caravan to the toilet block and back on the campsite.

Tried the " Green Goddess" routine for oldies. Managed to get all the way through the routine.

As we lay knackered on the floor, wheezing and gasping from the effort, we heard " Well now we have nicely warmed up, lets go to programme two for the workout".

Tried the Jo Wickes. Well it is designed for small children.
Discovered we could only do two star jumps per bladder.

We have decided to meditate ourselves fit. This involves lying flat and concentrating on a glass of Côte de Rhone. This can ce repeated several times a day.

Stuart, just make sure you change hands when doing the Côde du Rhône, RSI is real.

I am suffering a sore right wrist doing the Peroni routine myself. Be careful out there.

This is real and yes it is frightening, I am 64 my husband is still working as his job involves working at hospitals or at food companies he is an Engineer. I am not happy about it but he has to do it.
I am home all day with two small dogs I am bored of course I am but what can I do nothing. We have a garden we take the dogs out for a walk when my husband gets home that’s it. Daughter and son are working from home they both have two children and dogs too. It’s not easy for anyone .
If possible let family help with shopping etc yes you will be bored so many of us are it’s going to a long haul this but we have to try and stay positive. As for hospital appointments mine and hubby’s have been cancelled too. Cancer treatment should continue if your worried phone the docs or hospital .. There are contacts out there to help you through it but don’t forget your family first if they can help let them . If not good friends and good neighbours

We have cracked this exercise fascism. Our children and grandchildren are bragging on about how many circuits, press-ups, contortions and distances they do each day.

Following the American habit of calling the toilet, "the John", we have decided to christen ours as "the Jim"

The Skype call is now impressive when we tell them we have spent the last half hour in the Jim

In case anyone is interested, Asda has now started a sort of PAYG scheme. I have not looked too deeply into it yet but apparently you can buy a card online and add money to it, then you can email that to a voluntary helper (or print it off) who can go to the Asda store, buy your week's groceries and pay with your card. That way you don't need cash and the voluntary helpers don't need to handle cash or know your bank details etc.
