We always tend to be unlucky with the weather when going to Cornwall but then up till this year we've always been in...'sunny'(????) August! In fact I always advise anybody on here who's also likely to be in the same area as us at that time of year, to make sure they pack their wellies and kagouls coz it's pretty much a safe bet that they'll need 'em
This year howsomever, we are going to be there for the first three weeks of July. Now when we've had naff weather on our August hols everybody tells us how 'luvly' the weather was the month before! Are we clutching at straws I wonder? Who knows, but at least going earlier it's costing us a lot less so who cares if we still get the usual naff August type wet stuff that we're used to anyhoo at least we're getting it cheaper?
Just hoping the high winds have dropped before we set off coz the one thing guaranteed to give me a white knuckle ride is.....high winds with the tin tent on the back!!!!
Not too bothered about winds once set up, but getting the awning up IN high winds...always guaranteed to give onlookers a good chuckle muscle workout believe me. One year, I even took off like a human kite, (feet literally left terra firma), as I did my best to hang on for all I was worth to the centre pole as hubby was doing the rest
I'm still realllly looking forward to our hols and only.....SIX sleeps till we're off!!!

Have a lovely holiday Hippy........& so glad you are back on here, really missed your postings!
Awwww bless you for that Anglebox 66 but it may end up being a flying visit again. Soooo much going on with our expanding family I can hardly keep up with all the knitting and crochet and even though I am a woman and therefore multiskilled().....I still haven't quite mastered the art of knitting whilst working on the lappy.....well not yet anyhoo
Must dash, (well speedy hobble), coz I don't wanna be guilty of hikjacking a thread already
Roll on Cornwall I say and whatever the weather wants to throw at us. Tbh, it's the poor pooch who hates the rain most of all. Have been known to literally drag him out to do his business up at the dog field when it's been piddling down before now and even then he decides that if I have made him go out, (even with his Outhwaite doggy jacket on),he's damned sure he's gonna do his business before we make it alllll the way to the doggy field, just so he can have a speedy, (well as speedy as I can hobble with him ),return back to the comfort of the tin tent! Thank heavens for me doggy poop scooping seat I carry over me shoulder or else I couldn't take him out alone and still be able to scoop his poop and I would never leave his deposit in a public place.
Would be nice to have some dry weather for a change tho if I'm honest. Not even sooo bothered about the sun joining in but that would be a luverly bonus if poss.....not wanting to push me luck.
It's on the change, the sun is coming, well we go tomoz so it had better do! Right now it is spotting with rain again, grey skies and a cold wind................
We have only ever had to cancel a trip once and that was not weather related it was daugher being grounded related.
We only ever do weekend trips during July and August, but that is because we don't really like camping during the school holidays as it too busy for us.
We had two glorious weeks away at the end of May and always have at least a week away in Spetember when the kids go back to school and have never had a problem...OK last May and September the UK was lashed by high winds but we only had one day of worry.
It's on the change, the sun is coming, well we go tomoz so it had better do! Right now it is spotting with rain again, grey skies and a cold wind................
Sigh.

I'll try keeping me fignres and teos corssed for ya that the weather brightnes up Ali but have to say......it's erveso tircky tpynig lkie tihs!
