Wilis has a Litre of glyphosate weed killer for £11 and you just dilute it much cheaper than the rest

Aldi had some weedkiller with glyphosate in it last week for £2 a spray bottle it look like it works as i sprayed it just before it rained and some of the weeds are going brown.

I have looked at several weedkilers and read the H&S sheet's and it looks like this one is the most potant

Stay away from bayer they are pooh read the reviews

Hi, all harmful weedkillers have been removed from the market even for pros like me, that is why u have to have 4 sprays a year it is because of the run off/ leaching into the ground/ water supply that u and I drink

I took a tip from gardening programme on local radio. Sprinkle washing powder over flagged/paved area before rain is expected.. Leave til it rains and the paving will be cleaned. It worked and also killed the weeds and the moss growing in between

I did have to brush a couple of areas were the stones had become marked. Tesco value powder was cheap and worked well.

Try a small area first

I remember when i was younger my neighbour in Swindon had a weed gun that was huge and orange in colour that used petrol i think, it worked like the old fashioned blow lamps and would roar when it was ignited and i remember him burning the weeds on his path and doing our drive way to, i see a few of these things at bootsales but not sure if there made anymore though.

I have one of these jobbys. Very impressive when fired up but please not petrol but paraffin. They are made still by Sheen. They will wilt weeds and when they have dried it's easy to burn off the residue but weeds will sadly return before too long.
In use avoid any cables and plastic furniture, door cills gutter etc and walk backwards or wear thick soled shoes (not plastic)

I use petrol on my patio, it kills the ground/soil so DO NOT USE ON ANYTHING ELSE !!

it kills the ground for about 3-4 years, you only need a small amount in a small watering can (no rose) poured into the spots where the weeds are <img align="absmiddle" src="forum_images/smiley20.gif" width="23" alt="17">

Just let it soak in <img align="absmiddle" src="forum_images/smiley11.gif" width="17" alt="17">

Especially not on tarmac.
When I cleared my front lawn to cover with gravel I sprayed diesel over it. That seemed to do the trick. Dangerous stuff if used in conjunction with a weed burner.

Atrazine is a good 'un, but not generally available. Pathclear works well for me.
I once used paraquat on the garden and told the woman next door to keep her dog indoors for a few hours and overnight.

She called out to her hubby that I had used Parakeet on the lawn. (Glad I moved from there!)

We did our jungle of a back garden (all paved, but it was done cheaply years ago and is just slabs laid on sand - no membrane, so it's a weed heaven!) a few weeks ago.  Hubby spayed it with Roundup just before we went away for a week (we have to be careful as the back garden is our dog's playground!).  It's taken about 4 weeks, but everything is now dead.  I scraped all the dead stuff off at the weekend and, for now, it's completely clear.  Now we've cleared it the intention is to do a quick spray as the inevitable new growth appears and keep on top of it.

Ideally, we'd like to have the whole lot re-laid properly with a membrane underneath, but I dread to think what that would cost!!!

Thank's everyone for the ideas. I went for a full washdown with Jeyes Fluid (love the smell) and finished with a quick blast of roundup ! Looks like its done the job!
Thank's
Mark.
