Well, I didn't get to celebrate my 40th in quite the way I hoped!!
On the Thursday afternoon (30th August) I started to suffer from really bad lower back pain on the right hand side. This slowly got worse as the afternoon went on and by tea time the pain had moved to my lower right front......

My first one (Lost count now!!) went from zero to full blown agony/real tears/writhing around on the floor/laughing gas, in less than an hour and a half....... I honestly thought I was dying!!
Spent a week in hospital "under observation/scans etc", with plenty of painkillers, and the odd morphine injection. Felt a massive fraud, as without the pain, I felt as right as rain, 
and spent most of the week sat in the hospital grounds in glorious sunshine, smoking, (have packed up now!!) topping up my tan/reading/doing crosswords, and hosting my visitors, who almost turned visiting time into a picnic!!!
There's a good chance you'll experience another one (sorry to say), but at least you'll know what it is next time, and will recognise the symptoms straight away. It's far less scary 2nd time around.
One word of advice though, if/when it does happen again..... ignore the GP route, and get thasen down to hospital post haste. They'll get the pain under control first, then ask questions..... unlike the bloody GP!!!!
Oh.....
When I did finally pass a stone, it was about half the size of that red blob on the end of a match stick!! How the hell can something so small.........
