Bees aren't protected by law,in fact my son had a swarm in his roofspace last year. The apiarists he contacted  weren't interested in attempting to remove them and suggested he poisoned them.

Well, a couple of the apiarists I have contacted are not interested in coming out just for a few hundred bees. The swarm that we had originally, I suppose, could have been re-located into a new hive and the apiarist could have recouped their time and trouble with the honey that the bees would provide. Similar advice was given by both of them, funnily enough: wait until around 8.30pm and then dampen them with a hose. They will hopefully fly off of their own accord having got fed up with the wet conditions. Yeh, right! 15 minutes of solid drenching achieved absolutely nothing!

Still a few more options yet, including, if we can get close enough, lighting the contents of the incinerator and letting the heat of the metal persuade the bees to move on.
