OMG are you kidding me???

an open uncovered mains connection??? - get that whole system unplugged from the mains right now!!!

this is an electrocution waiting to happen - fit a standard plug with 3amp fuse to each power lead going to each unit and use a multi-point lead - maybe the 6 way and use a 3 or 5 amp fuse in the multi-way 's own plug.

dont even switch the wall socket on to that unit - get it unplugged and made electrcally safe before someone gets very badly hurt or worse - and i really mean it.

that system has a very reall danger of killing someone like it is - all it needs is that mains unit to touch any of the metal parts of the hifi and the whole thing can become live to the touch at 240v. - one touch is enough to kill a child or even an adult.

im really horified anyone has anything like this in their home.

As others have said that distribution box should have a cover on it and is lethal if used as it is pictured.

once you have the power sorted and safe, go by ilimination.
hook up the amp and speakers, and unplug everything else, then plug it back in one by one and see if the hum goes.

it could well be just one of the red/white leads on the back that has a fault.
