So, that's a total of approximately 4 metres/13 feet in all? Rather a long way I would have thought. Are you sure you're leaving people room to get by another way?

yep happens to us too - 2 labs - camp with us everywhere and often we end up with half the campsite in or around the tent being tripped up by about a 1m-2m lead tethered to the ground - this is OK (for us) - we are sociable people and its our plot - our dogs are friendly but I drew the line when we returned from a short excursion to find our tethered dogs with scooby snacks and meatballs to feast on...- we keep them in a sheltered covered area - with water bowls when out. The dogs feasted so much there was a plate with leftovers..... and they are labs!!!!

I remember a few years ago, we were on a quiet caravan site with our 2 GSD's which we tied to front of caravan so they could get under if needed to in shade. Unfortunately we were by a group of youths about 17/18 years playing football. the ball kept dropping by the car (they never saw the dogs) after them jumping over a few times to retrieve ball they got a shock both dogs came flying from under caravan, and even moved it. Funny, they didnt come back again, we did laugh

Try Omlet netting? If you want to define boundaries. Not sure if the poles would stand up to harder ground though. Great on grass pitches we have some for our garden but seriously considering getting some to live in the van to keep our escapee 2 year old in

We use windbreaks - means Comet has shade or sun. We also have a couple of ground screws so that we can move him around the pitch.
Comet loves peole and thinks that everyone should be his friend, which is why we short tether him.
Bloody annoys when people come really close to your pitch and wonder why the dog wants to say hello.

Does it bother you if people come round especially to say hello to Comet? I'm afraid I'm guilty of that.

I can't see a nice dog without wanting to make a fuss of them and I've often wondered how other dog owners feel about it.

OH refers to this as "dog snogging".

We had a six month old Newfie puppy at the time and a load of kids were cooing and teasing her outside the tent.Our other Newfie went out to investigate.He was a fully grown 83kg dog.Never seen so many people run in different directions at the same time.Still laughing about it writing this
