Were off to Stowford Farm Meadows for 2 nights,
just going really to try out our new to us van, only going there as it's 15 mins from home and we have a voucher for 2 free nights,
if i had my way i would go elsewhere as to be honest i don't like it at Stowford,
Not planning on doing much apart from lazing in the sun and walking the crazy fool of a pup. xxx

As a reply to an earlier post about dog restrictions.  I am finding that more and more places are getting to be dog friendly.  They want your money!!!!!!  Pubs in particular, usually the bar area but sometimes lounge as well. This can be a welcome respite after a long hot walk, a nice cool pub, cool drinks for you and the dog.  I have even been into dog friendly cafes as well.  If there are no signs on doors of pubs, just make sure you go in bar rather than lounge first and then ask bar person.

If anyone is staying at Fforest Fields I can highly recommend The Llanerch in Llandrindod Wells, near the Tesco/Railway Station, dogs welcome in the bar and the food is lovely.

Hi Tracey - we will be there in August!! Is there plenty of room at the pub- we have Labs! Old boy is very au fait with camping and pubs and the like but the youngster is still learning!! Both will be well under control and will be in the lake as much as possible .One of my favourite memories was of our oldest Lab , Samtheman  swimming in a perfect 3 x 3 square  in the lake as that is what he had to do in his hydrotherapy pool! Sadly. we lost him at Christmas but the other 2 are a great consolation.  Our current old chap now is having hydrotherapy but is not a willing swimmer so he will be having some encouragement  from No 2 son and will be sporting a wonderful orange lifejacket!! The pup loves water - reckon we will just put a " If found swimming, please return to Pitch ..." round his neck!!"

My dogs love to lie out in the awning and watch the world go by. We keep them tethered with leads that are just long enough to reach the entrance to the awning so nobody can claim that they ran out at them (it's never happened but you never know!)

At night they sleep on the double bad and my wife and I have the bunk beds. OK - that last bit wasn't entirely true, but I think that's what the dogs would like!

The dogs just love to be with us, doing whatever we're doing and in a caravan they spend so much more of the day right next to us that they are very contented so it really is more of a holiday for them than it is for us!

Our old dog would refuse point blank to drink from the water and bowl we carried everywhere, so we were pleased to find she loved to crunch ice cubes when we stopped at a pub! Perfect for this hot weather, and what an excuse to order a bevy or two.

Made me laugh and remember my Izzy (also lost Christmas)She loved camping...lower tables, more picnics, more water (typical retriever)She was always in the water and would make sure you had to get wet if you wanted to get her out - she could smell even a puddle at a mile away, would get in even if it only covered her paws and would stay put all day if she was allowed!

Hope you have a fab time away with your youngster!

Well, were back!
We had a fantastic time, pup was as good as gold!
A very long walk Wednesday night and he settled really well, Thursday morning up at 7.45 had along walk for an hour then slept most of the day, filled a washing up bowl up with water and he was spalshing about in it and he would only drink from that lol not his bowl. He was really well behaved didn't mind being on his stake and chain, only person he barked at was the man on the pitch beside us who we hardly seen.
He hates the car and was sick going there all over me!!! Sick coming home, yet we gave him a ginger nut as advised and he never had nothing else to eat before hand!
He must be shattered lol he's not woke up since we got home at mid-day.

Hi,I was so worried that my dog might frighten/disturb people with her barking on our first caravan holiday that I invested in a spray collar.
These collars are recommended by the RSPCA and work on approximately 88% of dogs.Basically they emit a strong lemon smell every time they bark and when the collar is on my dog only barks once, and stops.
I feel much more relaxed knowing I can painlessly keep her quiet when she needs to be.
