Got the laptop home and guess what problem still there. Rang the shop who said when they checked it problem had gone. Said the only thing that could be done now was to reset the Laptop back to the factory settings and download the back up , but there would be another charge. Said not to bother has I could have done that myself in the first place.
Decided to try one more virus and Malware tool. Downloaded the one month free trial full version of AVG (I'm using it on the Tablet and seems OK)and guess what it picked up a Trojan that all of the others had missed straight away. Result! Problem fixed. It's supposed to be a common problem at the moment. The owners of software that redirect your searches get a payment everytime you go to a site which is how the scam is working. Problem is it was hidden with another application and I still don't know how it go onto my system.
Also told a friend who had been having the same problem and it seems to have sorted their problem out as well.
After advising you to run the Spybot and MBam, I had to sort out my mate's computer and mine. Sod's Law strikes again. Mine wouldn't even let me into files on the desktop or open some programs from the Start menu!
Sorted by going in to the registry and deleting some R8 rubbish! Wish I knew what I was doing! I've also picked up a new Search engine called "Delta", so now looking for that.

My hubby seems to get things like this on a regular occurance. I have now resorted to giving him an external hard drive to save any documents or pictures etc that he needs. If anything goes wrong the first thing I do is restore to factory settings :S
Having had a Macbook for about five years now, I had occasion to set up a Windows laptop for an organisation I do work with. I had forgotten how much fuss and palaver involved! While it's great to have low-level control of yoru machine, I now believe that computers are so complex that it needs something like OSX (or Android) to keep things manageable.
There is a bit of a premium to pay up front, but the longevity of the machine pays back in time; there are a new set of short-cuts to learn. I also spend time online doing what I need/want to, rather than spending so long maintaining the system.
While there are occasional glitches, it's nothing like the trouble I used to get with malware and associated software; incompatible drivers; pop-up messages and the like. The final straw was what happened to MS Office, which became so feature rich I couldn't do the basics on it any more.
I've had the same machine for 15 years! Only 6 new hard disks, 6 new optical drives, 3 new motherboards, 3 cpu's, 4 power units and 2 cases, but it's still the same machine!

Malwarebytes updated and then run in safe mode usually clears everything off. As others have said Spybot is also very good but I switched to MB after Spybot not picking something up.

Have you tried creating a restore point so you can just restore you computer back to the last known virus free point?
