Sorry to say, but not all the information given in these posts is necessarily accurate. B12 deficiency and iron deficiency are two separate deficiencies one resulting a megaloblastic anaemia and one in a microcytic anaemia ( large red cells and small red cells) and iron absorption is not dependant on B12.

B12 deficiency can be caused by a lack of B12 in the diet , for example in vegans as has been said in a previous post and this can be improved by change of diet or supplements or in severe cases by a few injections.
There is also a condition called Pernicious Anaemia where B12 can not be absorbed in the intestine because of a lack of Intrinsic Factor produced by Parietal cells and tests for these two factors would be part of the diagnosis for PA. In this case an ongoing series of injections for life is necessary

Thanks for all your inputs on the B12 debate, yes much more testing is needed, most agreed on that point.
I'm certainly no expert on it all, but have been reading up recently on B12, Vitamin D3, Magnesium, etc., modern findings are quite interesting.
I do know that when you are ill, desperate to find answers, Doctors not taking you seriously because your bloods are coming back from the labs reading normal/borderline, so you might not get treated, but you are still feeling terribly ill, many patients are now using the internet to self diagnose and self medicate by trial and error.
