Started on mine last weekend collected leaves and remade and rebarked steps.Decided to visit the allotment today to tidy up a bit but before I went thought I would let the hens out into the garden as it was sunny - came back from a very wet allotment to a garden that looked worse than last week B..... hens had scratched up all the work I had done last week!!
lawns had a first cut this year. sad really!! but the bonus of finding a slowworm basking on top of the cuttings bin made it worth it, but... surprised to see a cabbage white butterfly starting the years rounds!!then a pub lunch followed by a decent walk with the schnauzers along Weston beach

They keep saying there is a decline in butterflies and bumblebees but last year my garden was awash with them and it looks like they will be in abundance again this year. I have seen several butterflies and bumblebees already.
We had a couple of butterflies and a huge bumble bee that was around most of the afternoon. Must have heard that I have redone my garden and it's filling up nicely with plants.
My garden is mostly lawn with shrub borders. I think this is the third year I have been here and I had the borders looking lovely but for some strange reason over the winter the borders have filled up with what looks like patches of weed. I don't know where it has suddenly come from. There are loads of daffodils coming up so I can't weed just yet. I am hoping it might be a lovely flowering ground cover plant that has suddenly come to life but probably no such luck.
It's a gorgeous day up here too but we had a touch of frost this morning. Mowing - strimming is required as all the water has just flattened the grass. Getting pressure washer ready to driveway and side path (all mud and moss). Endeavouring to persuade DS to get the bow saw out to lop of a few branches so I don't keep hitting my head and my washing doesn't get tied up.
