I've not noticed any difference in the service on my powerseller business account or my personal account. For the most part hassle for me has been from other users & ebay have always been good at sorting them out. We had a cracker when the OH banned an abusive buyer. She used other ID's to hassle, involve OH in long drawn out questions about items in fake bad English wasting time & got threatening. Through our own efforts we were able to link the users of the accounts to the same housing estate, that they were friends on facebook etc find pictures of the woman & family online & found out where she lived & worked & could have caused her a world of pain if we had wanted. However ebay stepped up & banned both accounts.
Customer service with both ebay & paypal is top notch.

I found out yesterday that you cant alter, or certainly reduce, a bid limit. I decided to lower a limit on something i was bidding on, given it was nowhere near the price of the latest bid - which was myself. I was amazed they wouldnt let me knock a bit off, but not surprised, as ive found ebay getting greedier in recent times.

Ironically, the item suddenly became 'unavailable' today, so my bid was summarily binned anyway.

I have now ditched both Ebay and Paypal. I am sure I can buy and sell things by other means. Don't know where I am now going to get my bulk supplies of torch batteries from though

You cannot cancel a bid easily. Only is very limited circumstances can a bid be set aside. A bid is a legally binding contract to buy up to that price. No less than bidding in person at a live auction. That is the way it should be.

It tends to be the buyers that change their mind and the sellers that don't tell the whole truth that cause the problems on ebay.

Didn't they used to put a few pence in your account which you could keep - I definitely remember that happening.

Yes, when I signed up to paypal they put an amount of money in your bank and then you had to tell them how much it was.

I've more or less given up with ebay, there are a lot of obvious scams which is a shame because there are some genuine sellers too...I do still buy the odd thing, but never sell anything on there anymore. I have no complaints about paypal though.

Paypal try to get you to 'verify' your bank details by telling you that your limits on what you can pay in or out etc; will run out if you don't. In actual fact unless you are a heavy user of Ebay/Paypal the limits are plenty. I have never got anywhere near running out.

If you do 'verify' your bank with them they then put a small amount of money into your bank in order to 'verify' it is your bank account. They make it sound as if you have to do this when in fact you don't.

I am not quite sure why they want you to verify your bank other than so they have access to it in some way and I have heard of them freezing peoples private bank accounts if there is a dispute of any kind...hence I never verified my bank with them and had no problems in that respect at all.

My dispute with them (and Ebay) on this occasion is that simply because I updated my debit card details they have both drawn £1 each out of my account obviously to 'verify' my card but nevertheless, without my express permission. However, there was no indication at all on Ebay that they would do this and on Paypal it was hidden in the small print somewhere in the rules...certainly not on the update page where it should have been. In the case of Paypal they actually took £2 out of my account.

That was the last straw with me and I have cancelled both. Whether or not I will get the money back I don't know but they can keep it...they obviously need it more than I do!!!
