Ooh - you could have a 'deconstruction installation', where you send Kim and Aggie in to set things straight and give it a good clean-up, and the creator a good talking to! I reckon people would pay money to watch that...

But is it really art??
Steve
It has had an affect on you and all the others who have discussed it. So yes it is art.
Art is not just about pretty pictures.
The item has not had an affect on me. It is the obscene waste of money that someone has spent on it that has had an affect. That doesn't make it art.
But you have been drawn in to discussing the bed because of the price it has fetched so it has had an affect on you - that's art!
As for it being a waste of money I'm sure the 'investor' would consider it a wise investment. The purchaser would also question the value of investing in a investment account in a high street bank where the interest rate is less than the rate of inflation. Now that would be a waste of money - just not obscene!

Wasn't it bought for £150,000 a few years ago? It is art because its a one off. No one else can ever do it again.
Damian Hirst is similarly controversial, but some of his stuff is genius. Likewise David Hockney, some of it is terrible, but I wouldn't say no to any of his latest Yorkshire Wolds works.
I went to an exhibition that included some of Tracy Emin's work (was it two years ago?) and I really was unimpressed. My companion, a graduate in fine art, thought someone 'is having a laugh'. Or maybe that's it. Maybe Emin IS having a laugh. She always seems to have a crooked smirk on her face, or seems to have just chewed a lemon .... :-)
I will do mine for £500. It is a Kingsized - a few months old.
A few Coke stains on the matteress put their by the fairies, not the kids.
I will even throw in a bottom sheet - needs a wash but I have been reluctant to change it as my doggy sleeped on it before we had to say goodbye.
A couple of cheap pillows.
Bargain.
(I will remove the stuff from the drawers for you.)
