so whats new, why do we need to pass an expensive towing test to tow a caravan yet you can jump into a large motorhome without any experience, of have i got that wrong????
I've often thought the same with 5th wheeler's, which are ,effectively a small articulated lorry, given the size and length of these units
------------- no tin tent outings booked as yet ,just another cruise in Sept' booked so far

Mrs Bonce I was only drawing a parallel between the cost of a NEW tow car & NEW caravan with a NEW motorhome (all mid'ish -range).
Obviously it can be done cheaper or a lot more expensively for that matter.
It was just an illustration.
No offence intended.
No offence taken! you didn't say you meant new.
You can pass a driving test in a smart car and then drive a bentley, range rover or motorhome. Its always been this way.
I drew the line once when towing the horse trailer and the driver of a small hatchback went pale in the face at the thought of reversing ten yards to the passing place.
Another dangerous practice is reversing blindly out of drives, parking spaces etc. instead of reversing into them.
Mums on the school run drive large 4x4s down the middle of narrow lanes - being assertive.

It is illegal to Reverse onto a main road.....not that you would think so.

This is exactly the reason why traffic is always slow through Yarm. People will insist on driving forwards into the spaces on either side of the road and then reverse out thus stopping traffic.
If they reversed in they would be able to see gaps in traffic when they wanted to come out instead of having to reverse into the traffic until they can see whats coming!
