Slightly off topic but I bought a £15.99 mixing bowl before Christmas from amazon, free postage, it came and there was a chip on the edge so I contacted the supplier, they supplied me with a free post address and told me to take it to the nearest post office, I then e mailed to see how long it would take and it was 10-14 days for the damaged bowl to post back and would have to wait for replacement, being a Christmas present this would have taken it past Christmas so I sent back for a refund, post office took it off my hands and didn't give me a receipt, they said they would send it to the freepost address. I am still chasing the refund and the company said they have not received the parcel back. They are looking into it but I'm not too confident of getting my money back. Bought same bowl from sainsburys £15. I think its swings and roundabouts with buying online, it can be cheaper, can compare without spending ages in the shops, saves petrol, parking fees and hustle and bustle of Christmas shoppers. Bloody annoying if your sending something back though especially when its not your fault its damaged and can't get the money back, any ideas??.

One tip is to only buy using a credit card which offers purchase protection cover. Some cards will cover all purchases made using them, others they place a minimum value on the item before the cover commences, but most card companies are happy to help recoupe monies back should there be any problem with the transaction.

I have never had a problem obtaining a reciept from any carrier who has accepted a return parcel from me, and l also keep these reciepts for at least a couple of weeks after posting as proof of return until this is confirmed as received by the company via email or text. In your case, l would try complaining at the place who accepted the parcel from you, although without a reciept issued at the time you may not be very sucsesful.

Quote: Originally posted by kopte4ever on 23/1/2015Its amazing how many people dont see it from the retailers side of the fence. Ok i agree all returns / postage charges should be found on the website.

But to expect retailers to pay for returns costs as well as outgoing costs for a change of mind is silly. Depending on the size of the item if we had to do that then most buisness would run at a loss. As people would abuse the returns procedure.

Lets say you purchase an item for £15 + £3.00 postage then costs yourself £5 to return with royal mail, that means the retailer has to refund you £8 in just postage costs that they will never get back, That would put most buisness out.

I think customers need to relise, if you want to see it go to a shop. Its your choice to buy online.

Unfortunately the buyer has to totally trust that the seller will send out good quality goods, undamaged, as described in the advertisement and fit for purpose. If the seller fails to do this then the buyer should not be out of pocket.

In my case, I have since discovered, the material of the slippers has either been cut short or sewn wrongly rendering one side of the slipper lower than the other. The whole slipper seems to be twisted. This should have been pretty obvious to an experienced seller of shoes.

From my original £12.49 I would have received a refund of just £3.99 thus I would have been out of pocket by £8.50 and still wouldn't have any slippers. The slippers only cost £8.99 in the first place, the rest was postage.

As it happens at least I have a pair of slippers which are just about wearable and will put it down to experience. In the dishonest and deceitful world that we presently live in one is bound to get caught once in awhile.

I can probably get to Aldi to buy a new pair soon.
