Now although the fish was very nice the peas had a very distinct taste of sugar, which to me made them totally inedible. It's something I've never come across before and I thought maybe there had been an accidental spillage of sugar on the serving counter at the shop and it had somehow got into my serving of peas, however, when I mentioned it in conversation with one of the regular residents of the site she said the people at the take-away do actually put sugar in the peas.

Now I know that most processed food has sugar added at the point of manufacture though you can't actually taste it, but for a take-away to add it as an extra seems very strange. So is this a common thing, is it something peculiar to Wales or just that particular take-away? Has anyone come across this before?
