I see that Ikea will be trying out new "Doggie Parking Bays" in the UK shortly. Artificial grss and a place to secure the dog to while the owner is off shopping. It has been trialled in Germany with some success. It's a pity other firms don't try it out.

some days you are the tree.

Blimey! That sounds absolutely brilliant! Only place I've ever secured my pooch is at the dog securing points on the campsite where I have to leave him if I'm going to the facilities, take-away or swimming pool area. I've always got a carabiner clip thingy on each of my assorted dog leads which is really handy for being able to secure pooch to various things even when I'm not leaving him anywhere. Like to a table leg when he's dining out with us etc.
Oh and the carabiner is also useful for me to hang a used poo bag from until I reach a suitable bin since my other hand has to use my walking stick lol God just didn't give us enough hands. Dog lead in one....walking stick in t'other.....no more hands!
I do remember many years ago, (in the days of gaslight lol), that we visited Paington Zoo and they had actual kennels complete with bowls of water in a shady area for visitors to leave their furry friends whilst visiting the other animals in the zoo and thought what a great idea it was. Don't know if they still have those though.
