You could probably secure a good deal on a concrete shelter now the Cold War threat is no longer with us , or a good old fashioned Anderson shelter in the garden , enjoy the cameraderie and a refreshing cuppa around a nice open fire , or do as Capt Bairnsfathers Old Bill suggested , if you know of a better ole then go and find it .

Just in case anyone really does think this a useful idea, as I pointed out above, its lipo batteries that can catch fire if incorrectly charged not NiMH batteries. These bags are designed for modellers who use lipo batteries which have connecting leads on them. The charger stays outside the bag. Putting normal AA or AAA batteries and of course their charger in one of these bags will almost certainly set the charger on fire due to it overheating. Highly dangerous!
As someone who has had several camera's that used AA batteries I struggled to find decent ones. While reading on a photographic forum about Batteries it was recommended that I use Eneloop made by Sanyo, not particularly cheap £12 for 4 think I bought 8 for £12 on offer from 7dayshop but they last ages to recharge I put them in a Uniross charger overnight.Hope this helps.

Shorter, faster charge equates to lower lifespan of battery, and possible overheating of batteries whilst charging. A slow overnight charge is probably safer, and certainly better for the battery.
Its mostly lithium batteries that have problems with catching fire if incorrectly charged, not NiMH.
Yes thanks. I have come to the conclusion that perhaps my existing charger is ok and I am just impatient. I usually charge 4 at a time because I have a torch that takes 4 AAA's and they seem to take forever. That's not really a problem though. I was just wondering if a genuinely fast charger really existed (at a price I can afford) but they all seem to be slow for higher capacity batteries.

You must get a bit bored sitting there watching and waiting bob , do you also take the precaution of wearing the usual UXB kit , or hide behind the sofa ?
Not me...gives the wife something to do while chained to the kitchen sink.

Spoiling her eh bob ? I hope my girlfriend doesn't see this thread , or I'll be accused of neglecting her .

Yes, I have read before that Eneloop batteries are possibly the best. I ended up buying Digimax AAA for general use which seem to be ok and not too expensive.
My camera uses AA batteries but I have not tried rechargeable ones in it yet. I am a little concerned about that because rechargeables are only 1.2 volts whereas disposables are 1.5 volts. My camera rejects batteries well before they are discharged so not sure how it will respond with lower voltage rechargeables.
I've been using this Energizer charger and batteries now for a couple of years. Charges in about an hour or less and the batteries are high capacity and long lasting. Very pleased with it. Charger
The Energizer seems like a good charger but will it charge 4 x 1300mah AAA batteries in one hour? Having looked up the spec it seems to be saying it will charge up to 1000mah AAA batteries.
This is the problem. When you buy a charger it will usually have 4 AA batteries with it and will tell you it will charge those 4 batteries in one hour. Although the capacity of those 4 AA batteries will be fairly high (I think the energiser comes with 2300mah AA batteries) for some reason they seem to take much longer to charge AAA batteries.
The chargers I have looked at so far seem to suggest that they will charge AAA's of about 800mah in the specified times. The energiser is better at 1000mah but my batteries are 1300mah
Anyway, I have now decided the battery charger I already have will do and I will be more patient. It seems to be a bit of a minefield and better the charger you know as they say
It charges the 4 x 2300mah AA batteries that came with it in an hour and it also charges 4 x 800mah AAA in less than an hour. I have not tried 1300mah AAA so I can't say for sure!

I bought Tronic ones from Lidl, and they have been chronic, sometimes I have only taken 20 photos before they die.
My better ones are Tesco Greener Living, but now they get very hot in the charger.
I researched this extensively, and if they are getting hot, it seems they are ruined, by low quality chargers. It seems you need a quality charger, that displays how charged each battery is (not just a green light if they are done). I haven't bought any of these to see if that is true though.
I presently have a Lloytron charger which is supposed to be fast but as previously stated can take 12 hours or longer to charge 4 x 1300mah AAA batteries.
It does charge individual batteries, shows the amount of charge in each and will apparently indicate a duff battery, so it seems to be a pretty decent one for the price...just a bit slow possibly. I am not 100% sure it is fully charging the 1300mah batteries but it serves it's purpose for my torches and other small items.
The test will be when I run out of disposable AA batteries and buy some rechargeable ones for my camera in the very near future.
