      Dad wouldn't go in August so the Easter Holidays it was. We went all over, Fort William, Loch ness, Inverness , Glen Affric, John O Groats, Smoo Cave, Durness, Ullapool, The Caingorms, Glen Shee, Edinburgh.
       I've been back several times since, out of season, and the weather has always been ok, especially on the west coast, and remember... there's no such thing as bad weather.. just the wrong clothes

Of all my visits over the years the only place I feel has changed dramatically is Skye.

On our first visit the bridge had just been finished and it cost almost as much as the ferry to cross. The free bridge has now made it part of the mainland and whilst it has been good for the island in terms of money into the economy it is no longer the hard to get to haven it once was.

Coral Beach at Dunvegan used to take some finding and once there you had it yourself. Now you could build a 100 space car park and it would be full most of summer!

Since returning from exile in Hampshire, I've been meaning to do a nostalgic grand tour of Dumfries & Galloway and my family's homeland in the borders.
Ah, happy days in the 70's driving down the A75 on way to holidays in the Lake district. Maybe next year, but I've been saying that for ages!
