Surely with our state of alert now being 'critical' it's time to ship out anyone we have intelligence on. I know there are probably a hundred more for every one, but we've got to start somewhere.
I'm down in London for Trooping the Colour in a few weeks (if it still happens) and four days later i'm there again with a party of 10/11 year olds. We were due to visit parliament but it looks like that now won't happen.
I'm okay about me and my husband being down there but being responsible for someone else's children is a whole different kettle of fish.
What upset me most about the Manchester bombing is the normality of everyone involved, parents picking their kids up after a concert, teenagers there for a great night listening to music, having a great time, only for it to end like that.
I'm deeply saddened and extremely angry. I worry for my children and their children beyond that.
I totally agree with this post. The sentiments of the last three paras represent my shock and anger.
But, without it being a "witch-hunt", the first paragraph is the key one. We MUST be aware. I don't know how many of you went through the IRA bombings on the mainland (I was involved in one of them) though I do know a couple who lost loved ones in the July 2005 terrorist attack in London, but vigilance became a way of life.
In many ways, H&S has made us sloppy about personal responsibility. No-one thought that some sick person would target such young people and the responsible parents who went to pick them up. Sadly and tragically, Manchester has given us a wake-up call.
