Oh dear, borntoshop, I can see why you were stressed! My wife doesn't drive on road or water, she is quite happy to leave that to me. She does make a very good boat crew though, having spent holidays on the broads on hire cruisers, on canals on narrowboats, and on various rivers on our own motor-cruisers over the years, so she knows just where to be when she is needed. Consequently we have had many stress-free boating holidays.
The Broads are about the easiest to navigate, as long as you bear in mind the tides. There are no locks to negotiate and most of the rivers are nice and wide, so plenty of room to maneuver.
