As someone who sold cooking appliances for 32 years I can recommend a very easy way to clean an enamel coated oven. Was a tip from the Electrolux rep. Turn oven to highest setting, place a roasting tin with hot water inside and leave for up to 30 mins depending on how soiled your oven is. When cooled a little remove tin. lift out shelves wipe oven interior and brew up, job done!
We recently decided to replace our 30 year old gas cooker. We bought a dual fuel one from Argos as my wife likes her gas hobs as it's what we've had for most of our married life of 51 years. After just a week all the electrics failed on it, even the hob igniters. Called them up (took most of the morning going from one number to another) and they finally said that they couldn't do anything for two weeks. Booked their engineer to come and take a look at it in two weeks time, waited in all the appropriate day but he didn't turn up, so I contacted them again and told them to come and get it because I was rejecting it. Again, couldn't do anything for two weeks!
After all this fiasco we ordered a new all-gas cooker from Currys. One thing we realised from this is that a gas cooker will always work, unlike electrical devices which either work or fail completely. Another lesson was, never buy anything from Argos that you can't take back to the shop for replacement. Their after-sales customer service is atrocious!
Pyrolytic all day every day I adore mine it has 3 cleaning options an economy pyrolytic clean, a pyrolytic deep clean and a steam clean. The economy clean does a perfect job and costs less than a pound on my energy meter. The power use doesn't even go up as much as when the electric shower is on.
I just turn it on, drink coffee then wipe up the ash and its perfect. It cooks fantastically well and is very well insulated. I will never go back to other oven cleaning types, no chemicals, no using loads of hot water to clean, no scrubbing.
I have a somewhat different problem - I want a built under double oven/grill that will run on lpg (we have no mains gas)! Trying to find one online is a nightmare and some retailers should be shot because you put in their search engines what you want and the results come up with loads of suggestions most of which cannot be converted to lpg!
I has one before but it's discontinued and only went electric when my very wobbly elderly parents (in their 90s) sometimes knocked the controls - far too risky.
Want gas because we get too many power cuts and, in winter, helps cut heating costs in an otherwise all electric house. It's also cheaper than the lecky.

Are you talking about a built-in unit or a free-standing cooker? If you mean built-in I can't help, but if you mean free-standing I think the cooker we have just bought may do what you are looking for. I am fairly sure it can be converted to LPG. I had this problem when I lived in Norfolk as we had no mains gas in the village and my wife isn't keen on electric.

Thanks Colin but I have a separate hob and oven/grill. For a number of reasons I won't bore you with, a free standing cooker won't work without MAJOR structural work. Thanks again.
