Well, we left our dog in the car all day at the Feb show, comfy in her covered crate cave. She was used to being at home all day while we were both away at work (9-5), this was less time (10-4). It’s February, not warm but obviously we left the windows open enough on the side away from the wind for fresh air, but not so open for rain & snow. She got a comfort break on the nearest grass verge with a snack / water when we arrived after a 2 hour drive & a comfort break with snack / water after we got back to the car before the 2 hour drive back. We were bushed when we got back to where we were staying (not home), she was fine because she’d slept all day. We would not have done this when she got a lot older because she needed out far more often - we had to put her into kennels on some MH trips because we knew we’d be away at an event for more than her old dog 3 hour limit.
Owners know their dogs & know themselves.

From memory, allow half an hour from parking to hall via the shuttle bus & its queue. Or comfy shoes & walk, not much less time. The car parks are huge, so we weren’t near the halls.
If it was me, I’d leave the dogs with someone that can look after them for the day. It’s a long enough day without adding an hour to go back & let the dogs out onto the tarmac for a comfort break & some kibble.
Wow, that is a long trek - glad I asked. Think we may need to rethink!
The halls can be a long way off, buts its only a five minute bus ride - of which they are very frequent. Your 'day pass' gets you in and out without issue.
Thanks for your posts, Fiona W and Mick S. Although the dogs are happy being in the car, I think the time/distance from the car parks to the halls rules it out for us.
Why not see if there is one of those doggy play centres near to the camping site. They might love a play day.
Not the UK but we went to France before Covid with our little dog. We found a private dog minder in Bayeaux whilst we went to see the tapestry and look round and also a lady pet sitter in Aveluy whilst we visited The Somme.

Thank you for the suggestion - something I'd not thought of. Food for thought for future reference.
