Not sure where it comes from, or how it is in my character, but I do not like routine, or planning in detail. It may have been from my career, where there was very little routine. So we have absolutely no traditions at Xmas, or any other time if I’m honest. We just take things as they come.

On the flip side, we are going on a holiday with some friends next year, and the lady is an independent travel expert. Everything has to be nailed to the hour, which is not something we normally do……But we will go with the flow.

We once had 30 odd of OHs' relations for Christmas Day in our small house. This coincided with a new kitchen. Got 4 hours sleep the night before and nearly had a melt down on the day. Never invited back anywhere.
Never again....no time to put on any makeup so I must have looked like a ghost.

In many ways I am the same. If there is one thing I really can't handle it is boredom, and strict routines can be incredibly boring. We don't do much in the way of planning ahead either. Our plans often change multiple times before anything happens. About the only thing "planned ahead" is Christmas, if you call it planning. It just happens, as it does every year. It's only two days as far as we are concerned, because when I was on the trains they were the only two days in the year I could guarantee that I would not be working.

The Torrero Band - Tijuana Christmas. And a very, very large whisky mac.

Since lockdown we have been going to the coast for new year, but that's off the cards this year as the week "blocks" around xmas don't work with the school holidays, and everywhere seems to have got 50% more expewsive in the last 12 months.

The Torero Band were a studio session band who, according to Discogs, also recorded under the name Bert Farrell's Marijuana Brass.

Ding Dong Merrily On High may have had a different meaning to them

Never argue with fools........They drag you down to their level, then beat you with experience.

I like to know what im doing and where im going generally. People who are late; i could happily put against a wall and shoot. The Mrs has 'lateness' in her DNA. Hence i got life 3 weeks into our marriage. (joking). On the flip side, i cant do with being 'timed' with stuff. Because the minutiae have to work themselves out as the time goes on.

I played it at the office lunch yesterday - people didnt find it as unbearable as I thought they would. I have a couple of copies on vinyl- if I were to see it in a charity shop I'd still buy it.

Christmas is a time when people turn up with a bottle of wine, drink 4, eat all your food then take too long to bggr off!!!
