I think it's really important that if both of you in a couple can drive, then you should both tow the caravan/drive the campervan or motorhome too. You never know when one or the other of you might be incapacitated during a journey or simply to make the driving less tiring as you get older.
If we had to rely on OH doing all the driving, over the last couple of years our caravan holidays would have become very restricted or even stopped altogether - we certainly would not have been going abroad. As it is, we either share the towing or I do the majority, depending on how he is on the day and journeys are planned to be comfortable for shared or single driving.
