lockie - I could almost guarantee that it wouldn't be dad who was being humiliated if we did this.

Don't forget it's only US who has the so called agreement that dad himself will come for balls. If the balls were in anyone else's garden the kids themselves would be calling round for them.

The main obstacle to us involving other neighbours is that there are only 4 houses in our road.

Nana at one end, then them next door, us and lastly a lovely elderly and very frail Chinese couple in their 80s whose daughter looks after them but goes out to work.

I really wouldn't want to cause these people any hassle as they are frequently struggling with health issues (wife recently had a mild stroke) and up to now the footballing issues haven't impacted on them.

The very last thing they would want would to be constantly pestered by kids next door ringing their bell for balls to be returned. So we wouldn't kick any balls down towards them.

Some balls do go over the back into the Masonic Hall either because they have been rocket launched at the wrong angle from next door or (when I've really had enough) from our side via that peculiar ricochet I described earlier in the thread.

Unfortunately them next door seem to have an almost endless supply of balls so tend to leave them rather than trail round the main road to get them back.

It's as you say though rather amusing to think that if positively every ball were to end up over the back - eventually they would run out of them. Either that or it would cost mum and dad a fortune.

Probably worth a go then lockie.

Nana already has more than her fair share of balls bouncing around her back garden, as footie is played both ways, yes ?
What she doesn't get though is any banging on her fence as there are only 6ft conifers with lots of gaps between her and next door.

OH noticed last weekend that both nana and them next door have had their satellite dishes removed from the back walls and re sited on the sides of their houses.

We have often seen the dish next door looking wonky after a footie session and even seen the ball boing off nana's dish before now - and that's quite a distance.

But hey ho - it's ONLY football you know !!!

Christine.

P.S. The new puppy saga and the Turkish idiots is Ali's current nightmare and it sounds like she has more problems than I do.  Although we are both suffering from others' inconsiderate behaviour.

It's nothing to do with being turkish..I'm half by the way and I'd have got what for if I done any of this...fact is I live on a culture Desac..I put up with years of my fence being smashed kicked in balls coming over grown men teens and kids jumping in my garden as my garden leads onto the road.I too let my garden go as was being trashed...I had for sale signs thrown o we while I was in garden I had cancer and a skin graft on my face..I was outside stroking my cat when a sand pit lid comes flying over and missed my face by an inch...I had fire works thrown in my garden at night my Windows smashed my friends were to afraid to come over..I had a ban one day when the ball landed in the food..my friends ran out to have a go when they got told to f off they do what they like..it came over again knocking ban over hot coals everywhere one burnt the leg of one friend and my friends 3 year old who was sitting on a blanket was nearly hit by it...I called police who had to fix my fence back in to slots..every time got told nothing they can do...and if I burst the balls I'd be arrested..they do all this and I'm threatened..iv since been told by a friend of a friend who works for Scotland yard if the ball is in my garden I can do what I like to it that it's now in my property...and ppl are told that just to try and keep the police from arresting or causing more agro..but nothing gets done....I found out I was targeted as the person who lived in my house b4 me was care in the community..and therefore I was in for it b4 I moved in and they wanted me out..I am a single girl disabled..and have my spine screwed..I never knew what was going on till some were evicted and other moved..then a neighbour told me why..she said she didn't say anything cos one of the trouble makers was from a family of east end gangsters and even though ppl knew what I was going thru..they were scared...I'm sure they could have helped..but ppl don't care..I put up with nasty comments every day as I'm on crit he's or a scooter and I'm young..and they were all English apart from two Indian boys....when you have 25grown men belting football's at your fence day in day out till it gets dark..you know whY stress is..all I was told I could do was put trellis up or the paint..I have cats so paint not an option..I'm trying to grow prickly bushes..but taking for ever..I got threatens with murder even..and no one took me Serious...so good luck

Shencat, are you in council or housing association housing? If so, you MUST speak to your housing officer about this abuse.Because of your disability, you are vulnerable and they should be taking steps to either move you or move the perpetrators.

I'm disgusted at the attitude of the police, too. Where I live, harassment of people with disabilities is treated like a "hate crime", in the same way as racial harassment. There are special risk assessments and safety measures that are put in place to protect people in your position.

I hope some action is taken soon.

Some odd shaped blocks that deflect the ball towards their house/windows instead of returning it straight back towards them could be a solution of sorts.  The noise will be by no means dampened but if the ball isn't coming straight back to them they may get bored of running off on all different angles to retrieve it.  Could also backfire though as it might just make the game more fun for them...  I don't I could have the patience you do  Reading this thread has made me more appreciative of my neighbours

my god, shencat, I will never moan about my neighbours trampoline again.  It must be horrendous for you.  My neighbours grandchildren also know that if one of their balls comes into my garden, if my lurcher gets to it before I do, it gets ripped to shreds.  PS I dont let this happen on purpose.  If I see a ball first I will throw it back.  I do hope you get sorted out and you have my heartfelt sympathy

Hiya, 'The Giraffes' I saw this and thought of you! Hope things are improving now anyway! This might not help the noise but it's an idea for you.
